Our Impact

We embed impact into every part of our organisation.

We are a social enterprise

At Leaders for Good, our purpose is to unlock the tremendous power of organisations to create a more equitable world. We don’t just say it, we put 50% of our profit to equity causes.

The level of inequality in the world is astounding.

The world's richest 1% owns twice as much as the bottom 90% 1

Despite huge food wastage, 1 in 10 people are undernourished 2

Women on average earn $261.50 per week less than men 3

Only 53% of working-age people with a disability participate in the labour force, compared to 83% of those without a disability 4

Closer to home, 19.8% of the Australian population has experienced major discrimination in the past two years 5

With 82% of the world’s resources sitting in private organisations, the potential for business to positively impact inequity is significant.

We drive equity by:

Building capability

Building leader and organisational capability in DEI.

Raising awareness

Investing for Impact

Our business model is designed to maximise impact with 50% of our profits invested in equity driving causes.

0 %

of our profits to drive equity

To support our mission to unlock the power of business to create a more fair and just world, we’ve focused on causes that further two main goals:

Creating economic opportunities for disadvantaged and underrepresented groups

Empowering businesses with a clear mission for positive social impact

After an FY22 of tremendous growth, we’ve been able to contribute $169,000 to the following initiatives. It’s organisations like you that helped make that happen, and for that we are thankful.

Here are some of the organisations and causes we are proud to support

Sustainable nutrition to fight malnutrition

More than 10% of Cambodian children suffer from moderate and severe acute malnutrition. However, Danish Care Foods’ innovative therapeutic food, Nutrix, is a significant milestone in the Cambodian government’s mission to treat at least 25,000 children with severe acute malnutrition annually.

Danish Care Foods (DCF) is dedicated to improving nutrition and health for children and women in Cambodia. The impact loan we have provided will provide essential operating capital and enable them to expand their operations effectively. It will contribute to is the supply of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) products to over 1,000 children in three Cambodian provinces.

Inclusion for Good Food

Sarvaguna Foods and Kitchen is a social business from Nepal whose vision is to bring “inclusion for good food” to the local community, particularly to public schools’ students from underprivileged families.
Their goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has access to nutritious meals that support their growth and development.

They use the profit from their work in private schools to fund healthy meals for 1,500 students from families with limited resources. Additionally they have sustainable sourcing of raw materials from over 10,000 local farmers providing employment opportunities and strengthening the local economy.

Accelerating Women-Owned Social Enterprises in Cambodia

In Cambodia, only 26% of SMEs are owned by women. Leaders for Good have partnered with SHE and ygap to fund a startup accelerator to enable women entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and make a positive impact on their communities. Beyond training and support, we’ll also provide critical early-stage funding to help these entrepreneurs take their next step.

Changing Lives, One Bilum at a Time

We are funding a growth plan for Doga Artisans, a small business that works with women in isolated Papua New Guinea villages to help them earn an income by making traditional bags called bilums. Doga aims to empower these women through financial independence, so they can access education and medical supplies and have more support in the face of gender-based violence.

Funding the “Missing Middle”

We’ve partnered with Good Return, an organisation dedicated to breaking down barriers to finance so women and other marginalised people can build financial security. Leaders for Good has made a significant investment into Good Return’s Impact fund, addressing a critical investment gap across the Asia Pacific for SMEs. These enterprises are often referred to as the ‘missing middle’. You can hear more about this in our podcast conversation with Good Returns CEO Shane Nichols.
